Driving For Fonts

Posted on 13:15 by Unknown
A fellow tech writer sent me this interesting site: http://www.iqfont.com.

It's about a new font developed by Toyota for their latest car, the iQ, one in a series of impractical cube-shaped cars that include the Nissan Cube, the Kia Soul, and the Mini. Apparently, Toyota used the car itself to design the new font that goes with car. View the video to see how.

If cars can be used to develop fonts, what's next? Perhaps washing machines could create "clean fonts", steam irons could create "smooth fonts" and small children rolling around in mud could make "kiddie fonts". Ah, I can see it now - the next great font developed by computer tracking the paths created by small rodents. We'll call the new font - Rats.
